CRESCENT CARES
The Crescent Cares Foundation was founded with a simple belief: every child and family deserves to feel supported, seen, and cared for.
Led by founder, pediatrician Dr. Carletha Hughes, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization rooted in Chicago Heights, Illinois. We work to ease the burdens families face by providing gently used clothing, new toiletries, school supplies, and other essential resources through community giveaways and programs.
Our name and mission are inspired by the idea of bringing comfort — like a warm embrace or a peaceful night’s rest — to the little hearts who need it most.

Building a home for community care
our vision
We are in the process of transforming our property at 165 W. 10th Street in Chicago Heights into a dedicated space for charitable programming. Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where families can access resources, support, and community connection — all under one roof.
This expansion represents our commitment to long-term, sustainable impact for the children and families we serve.
